About Balance Yoga

OUR CLASSES

Balance Yoga classes are designed for real bodies and real life.
We combine mindful movement, alignment-based yoga, breathwork, and gentle relaxation so beginners — or anyone coming from pain or stiffness — feel safe, supported, and stronger.

No fancy gear or flexibility required. Just show up as you are.

Hi, I'm Angie… and I never planned on opening a yoga studio.

For 34 years, I did hair. I loved it — but decades of standing, plus a serious foot injury (and a few half marathons my body didn’t appreciate), left me in constant pain. When a friend invited me to a yoga class, I went reluctantly. I didn’t think it would help… but I was wrong.

That first class gave me something I hadn’t felt in a long time: possibility. I kept going back, not to “become a yogi,” but because of how good it made me feel and because it helped me survive my pain. Eventually I joined Yoga Teacher Training — I needed to understand why yoga worked and how it was healing my body. Yoga healed what medicine couldn’t. It helped me move, breathe, and trust my body again.

I honestly wondered why I didn’t know this stuff sooner. Why hadn’t anyone taught me proper body mechanics? Why did I spend decades in pain without understanding how my body actually worked? I wanted to shout it from the rooftops so other people could feel good too — to help them avoid the struggle I went through and finally understand their bodies in a way no one ever explained to me.

People noticed the transformation. They wanted to know how I was feeling better, so I began sharing what I learned about feet, posture, body mechanics, and why crooked bodies cause pain. And suddenly, people who felt too old, too stiff, too injured, or too intimidated realized they had a place here.

Balance Yoga became the studio I always wished existed — a space for real bodies, beginners, and anyone ready to feel better. A place where pain makes sense, alignment becomes empowering, and every wobble or win is celebrated.

This is the studio I needed.
Now it's the studio I’m honored to offer you.
Welcome home.

I am new to yoga - never tried it before. Which class should I take?

All of our classes are taught at a beginner-friendly level. We break movements down step-by-step and show you how to increase or decrease intensity so you can stay at the level that feels best for your body.

We recommend reading the class and workshop descriptions to see what resonates with you. That said, our slowest and most beginner-friendly classes are:

Body Tune-Up
Chair Yoga
Tuesday 4:00 PM & 5:30 PM classes (usually Unwind Your Spine or Mindful Movement)

We also occasionally offer classes and workshops labeled Gentle, Restorative, Spandana, or Yoga Nidra — all wonderful options for beginners or anyone looking for a slow, supportive pace.

Studio Etiquette + Policies

At Balance Yoga, we want to ensure an enjoyable and respectful environment. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our studio etiquette and policies. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We appreciate your cooperation and support of our community.

SIGN UP FOR CLASSES - Advanced registration is required for all classes and workshops. This helps you complete your digital liability waiver and payment ahead of time and ensures we can keep our class sizes small. Because our groups are intentionally limited, every student receives more individualized attention and support during practice.

CHECK THE SCHEDULE - On occasion, classes are canceled due to low enrollment or teacher availability. We recommend that you always check the schedule on our website to be sure the class is running before coming to the studio.

CANCELLATION POLICY - 24-hours for private sessions. 3-hours for yoga classes. 7-days for special events, workshops, and series.

REFUND POLICY - We do not offer refunds on any purchases made. Class packages, events, workshops, series, memberships, etc. are not transferable or refundable. All sales are final.

PRIORITIZE YOUR SCHEDULE - Please remember to cancel class via our booking software if you cannot attend to allow room for someone else and so our teacher is not waiting for your arrival. Please don’t be a no-show! We do lock our studio door at the start of class for the safety of our community.

DISCONNECTING - Please silence all cell phones and smart watches, or leave them at home when possible. We ask that devices not be brought into the yoga practice room. You may place them in a cubbie or bag on a chair at the entrance to the practice area. This helps you — and everyone around you — enjoy class without distractions.

SCENTS & SENSITIVITIES - Please avoid wearing strong fragrances, as some students are sensitive to scents. We want everyone to feel comfortable and able to enjoy their practice.

DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOUR BODY - You are different from the person next to you in class. Whether you feel strong or need some rest, focus on yourself and what your body needs that day.

BE RESPECTFUL OF THOSE AROUND YOU - Please do not attend class if you are ill or contagious.

IT’S OKAY TO COME A LITTLE HUNGRY - It’s okay to come a little hungry. Avoiding heavy food before class helps with breathing, core engagement, and comfort during movement.

BE RESPECTFUL OF OUR SPACE - Remove your shoes at the front door. Pick up after the class is over. Clean any props that you used. Place props away neatly where you found them. This makes for a positive experience for everyone at the studio.

ENJOY YOURSELF - This is the most important part! This is all about you! So if something doesn’t feel right, please let us know so we can help!
